The Department of Public Safety says the Compassionate Use Act, Senate Bill 339, was enacted in the 2015 regular session. Current law defines low-THC cannabis as not more than 10 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinols in each dosage unit, effective September 1, 2025. Health and Safety Code section 481.121 still makes unauthorized possession of a usable quantity of marijuana an offense.

This is a short history, not legal advice. The rules that apply today are on the Texas cannabis laws page. A date is included only when the linked page states it.
