Kansas cannabis history

Reviewed

Unlawful possession of marijuana is a Class B nonperson misdemeanor on a first offense, a Class A nonperson misdemeanor after one prior conviction, and a drug severity level 5 felony after two or more. The statute also states an affirmative defense for a defined cannabidiol treatment preparation. That defense is not a statement that a medical-cannabis program is operating.

This is a short history, not legal advice. The rules that apply today are on the Kansas cannabis laws page. A date is included only when the linked page states it.
